BMH board makes counter-proposal to Brough Group
Bowie Memorial Hospital Authority’s Board of Directors voted to make a counter-proposal to the Brough Group in regard to the sale of the hospital.
Dr. Royce Brough met with the board Friday afternoon, along with Richard Mathis, also with the Brough Group. Brough is an emergency room physician in the Houston area with a 40-year career in health care.
Brough made only a few welcoming comments to the board saying he was happy to meet them all and to try and work out a deal for the hospital.
The Brough Group was one of two bidders for the hospital, that included Texas General Hospital. Two weeks ago, after the bids were examined, the board voted to begin negotiations with Brough.
The remainder of the discussion was in executive session to debate the group’s offer. After 90 minutes the board returned into open session making a counter-proposal.
