An early morning house fire north of Bowie Wednesday is under investigation by the Montague County Sheriff’s Office and the fire marshal.

A 911 emergency fire call came in to the Bowie Police Department for a fire at 144 April Street at 1:30 a.m.

Bowie Rural Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched and City of Bowie VFD also assisted. Fire Marshal Doug Page said when the firefighters arrived there was a lot of smoke, but no visible flame.

Members of the rural department heard someone hollering and helped get home owner Michael Weiand out of the house explained the fire marshal. The man was transported to Nocona General Hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation and released a short time later. Read the full story in the weekend News.
