The Forestburg High School volleyball team provided Montague County with its deepest run in the postseason.
The Lady Horns swept Bryson 25-22, 25-19, 25-12 at Chico High School in mid-November, and advanced to the Conference 1A regional semifinals before falling to Kopperl in San Angelo.
The Bowie volleyball team defeated Nocona during a play-in match at Henrietta for fourth place in District 3A-9 and a spot on the postseason dance card.
Bowie, Nocona and Forestburg all finished the 2015 season with at least 20 wins. Saint Jo also qualified for the playoffs, and pushed Graford to five sets before falling.
Overall, the Lady Rabbits were 25-16, Lady Indians 24-15 and Lady Horns 20-16.
“I got to know the girls as the season went on, and we jelled as a team,” said first-year Forestburg head coach Cori Hayes, whose sister, Rashonda, played for the Lady Horns more than a decade ago. Read more in The Bowie News.

The new press box was by the Southern Bleacher Company out of Graham. Athletic Director Black Crutsinger said they looked at a lot of press boxes and decided they liked the one at Lindsay High School and went with that model. Sean Hutson operated the crane from the Hurd Crane Service that put the press box up for Nocona.

The lead line division, in which an adult helps the young competitors, saw Rylee Stewart win the first in poles, barrel racing and mystery event on her way to win top cowgirl.
Hattie Snow got the fastest time in the flags event and Lany Shupak got the fastest goat time. Riggin Bishop got named the top cowboy in the division.
In the eight-and-under division, Whitley Goins won the top cowgirl and Trell Carpenter won top cowboy. Goins got the fastest times in barrel racing, flags and mystery event. Carpenter got the fastest time in poles and goats.
