HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Gold-Burg stays alive for spot

The Gold-Burg girls’ basketball team knows plenty is on the line every time they step on the court.
Unlike other higher conferences, only the top-three teams qualify for the playoffs in Conference 1A. And the Lady Bears are in fourth place.
With that in mind, Gold-Burg defeated Midway 43-35 on Tuesday to remain in contention for a postseason berth. The Lady Bears are 12-12 overall, 6-4 in District 1A-21.
Lexy Hand dropped in 13 points, and Madi Eckeberger contributed 12 in the win. Eckeberger knocked down two 3-pointers while Hand sank five free throws.
