RR bridge a concern in Bowie; mayor talks with TxDOT

In an effort to gain attention for needed repairs to a 1930 railroad bridge located on Mill Street and Farm-to-Market 1125, city officials met with staffers from the Texas Department of Transportation last week to tour the areas of concern.
Bowie Mayor Larry Slack met with Michael D. Beaver, director of transportation planning and development of the Wichita Falls District, and Mike Hallum, area engineer, on March 9.
Slack said during a recent legislative visit to Austin he raised concerns with TxDOT officials about the crossing and related traffic concerns in that area. This was a follow up meeting with local staff.

Montague County Grand Jury issues November indicted cases

The following indictments were filed with the 97th District Clerk following the November session of the Montague County Grand Jury.
There were a total of 13 indictments with one sealed awaiting the arrest of a suspect.
A grand jury indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

New transformer arrives at Bowie substation

The new transformer was placed on its pad when it arrived at the City of Bowie electrical substation last Friday. Installation of this 20 Mva transformer, which is larger than the two 1992 original 12.5 units, will begin this week and come on line early in the new year. (Courtesy photos)
