Bowie School Trustees approved a 2017-18 budget will retain the same tax rate as 2016 and expenditures that are less than two percent higher than the prior year’s budget.
On the last day of August the board met for a final public hearing on the budget and proposed tax rate, followed by adoption of both, plus year-end budget amendments.
The 2017 tax rate will be $1.22 per $100 in property value. Within that rate $1.04 goes to maintenance and operation, while .18 cents goes to debt service.
BISD’s certified values declined slightly this year due to new homestead exemptions totaling $855,404,103, compared to $898,261,388 last year.
