Bowie city secretary hiring single called agenda item

Bowie City Council will meet in called session at 3 p.m. Nov. 20 with the hiring process for a new city secretary the sole item on the agenda.

At its Nov. 4 meeting, the council set Nov. 5-19 as the application period for the job.

Longtime City Secretary Mitzi Wallace will be retiring at the end of the year after 18 years as city secretary.

Wallace said while the council set the application time, it did not outline how to proceed after that whether they would work through a committee to narrow down the list and then how interviews would be done.

As of Monday, a total of 15 applications had been received.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
