Montague County begins grant process for paving project

Published

on

Montague County has begun the first steps in applying for a Texas Community Development Block Grant that commissioners want to use for paving the main streets in Montague.

A public hearing was conducted Tuesday afternoon with the full commissioner’s court and two citizens in attendance.

Joe Cox, director of regional service for Nortex Regional Planning Commission, and Deborah Milbern, regional service administrative technician, were present to explain the grant process.

Cox explained these are federal Housing and Urban Development funds that are funneled to the state and to non-entitlement cities and counties through the Councils of Government. This region receives about $2 million each biennium, which covers about 20 to 22 projects.
