on

Election filing enters its final two weeks with few prospects or incumbents jumping into the political ring for the Nov. 5 races.
Applications for the elections will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Aug. 19.
Entities planning elections include: City of Bowie and City of Saint Jo, and the Bowie and Saint Jo Independent School Districts. The remaining school districts have elections in even-numbered years, while Nocona’s entities for the city, school and hospital district vote in May.
For the Bowie City Council, two incumbents and one newcomer have filed. Gaylynn Burris will see re-election to mayor, and Jason Love, will run to retain his seat in the south ward. Love is challenged by Jason Johnson.
The east seat filled by Wayne Bell and the north seat filled by Arlene Bishop are up for election.
