Motorcyclist’s body found; crash date is uncertain
The body of a motorcyclist was discovered near an overpass four miles southeast of Henrietta Thursday afternoon.
Department of Public Safety officials said the report was made about 3 p.m. on Aug. 15 after a bridge surveyor noticed the body while inspecting a bridge overpass along U.S. 287.
The driver was identified as Ronald Pierce Daniels, 61, Las Vegas, who had been listed as missing from Amarillo since Aug. 8.
The DPS report states Daniels was driving a 2001 Harley Davidson south on U.S. 287 at an unknown time.
The investigating trooper believes Daniels’ rear tire may have gone flat, which possibly caused his motorcycle to leave the roadway and enter the center median and crash. After the bridge surveyor noticed the body, he notified the Clay County Sheriff’s office.
Justice of the Peace John Swenson pronounced Daniels deceased upon arrival and the body was sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner for autopsy.
This crash remains under investigation by the DPS.
