Throneberry indicted for actions in gun standoff

A 56-year-old Sunset man was indicted by the Montague County Grand Jury Monday for aggravated assault on a public servant after he allegedly shot at officers serving a warrant at his residence on Aug. 23.
District Attorney Casey Polhemus reported there were 23 cases presented to the panel Monday with 19 people indicted on a variety of charges.
Orvelle Throneberry was indicted for counts of aggravated assault of a public servant and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon stemming from the Aug. 23 standoff with lawmen.

Heat advisory continues into Friday night

The heat advisory that has been in place all week continues until 8 p.m. Friday night.

The National Weather Service reports strong high pressure overhead will bring triple digit high temperatures along with heat index readings approaching 110 degrees for much of next week. To reduce risk of heat related illnesses when outdoors, schedule frequent breaks in shaded or air conditioned areas, and stay hydrated.

Make sure to check on your older neighbors to make sure they are staying cool and hydrates, and make sure pets have shade and water.
