Clean-up, repair begins on Lamb, Nelson Streets
Initial clean-up work began Wednesday on the collapsed drainage culverts at Lamb and Nelson Streets. The Bowie City Council Monday gave approval for $50,000 of infrastructure funds to begin the repairs. These culverts run under Lamb Street, a street closed for more than two years due to the damage. Public Works Director Stony Lowrance said a portion of the drainage will remain to allow water flow, but a contractor will use an excavator to remove tree limbs, concrete and other debris so the culvert repair can begin. A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
