Saint Jo to swear in new aldermen

Newly elected members to the Saint Jo City Council will take the oath of office at the 6 p.m. Nov. 10 meeting at city hall.
The three aldermen will be sworn in after the votes from the Nov. 2 election are canvassed. A mayor protem also will be elected.
Returning to the council is Alderman Carla Hennessey, and she will be joined by newcomers Debbie Bryant and Randall Flusche.
The council will consider an outside audit firm to conduct the 2020-221 audit. Norden & Salinas, PLLC is expected to be selected.
A mutual aid agreement for emergency services will be reviewed, along with quotes for the sewer treatment plant retrofit.
An ordinance amending the rules for solicitors, peddlers, itinerant merchants and transient vendors to include mobile food vendors will be examined.
Other topics will include a request for Easy Street Shelter to conduct a Nov. 20 event on the square offering free microchips and photos with Santa; request to conduct a wedding on the square; request to place a manufactured home at 404 Howell; approve opening a checking account for 2021 tax loan proceeds and monthly minutes, financial statement, bills and reports.

Bowie City Council meets on May 12

The Bowie City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on May 12 in the council chambers.
The agenda opens with a proclamation for Emergency Medical Services Week.
In the city manager’s report, Bert Cunningham will discuss the Rock and Pillar Street project and the Texas Water Development Board grant application.
In new business, Brittany Barnes will be considered as an appointment to the Bowie Community Development Board.
A resolution requesting financial assistance from the TWDB authorizing the filing of an application for assistance will be reviewed.
The master parks plan also will be presented by staff from Public Management.
The consent agenda and public comments round out the meeting.

Commissioners to meet on May 11

Members of the Montague County Commissioner’s Court will meet at 9 a.m. on May 11.
After the consent agenda and public comments, the court will discuss an interlocal agreement between precinct two and the Bowie Sports Association for the baseball complex.
Precinct three will ask for a line-time budget adjustment of $15,000 from operating expenses to part-time.
The court will open and consider accepting sealed bids for emulsified asphalt and prime oil, all on a 90-day contract.
The consent agenda of minutes, bills and reports also is slated.
