Benton gets challenger for county judge in the Republican primary

Montague County has drawn its first contested local election as incumbent County Judge Kevin Benton will face an opponent in the Republican Primary.
The state representative race in district 68 also has drawn two opponents challenging Rep. David Spiller.
Candidate filing for the March 2022 party primaries will continue through 5 p.m. on Dec. 13; however, the Texas Secretary of State’s website notes changes to that date or the date of the primary could change per legislative or court order.
County Republican Party Chairperson Michelle Fenoglio Toerck said Bowie drilling consultant Joe Richey filed for the county judge’s race on Dec. 8.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
