New auto tech program building needs additional renovations; audit accepted

The 2020-21 outside audit was presented to the Bowie Independent School District Board of Trustees with no deficiencies during its final meeting of the year this past week.
Along with the financial statements, Lee Hughes was sworn in as a new trustee and the district will move forward with additional remodeling of the old bus barn for the new automotive technology program.
As the board met on Dec. 16, Hughes took the place six seat which was vacant following last month’s resignation of Kenny Miller. The board reviewed several applicants last month and chose Hughes.
Paul Fleming of Edgin, Parkman, Fleming & Fleming, PC, offered the audit and noted while the district had experienced “ a couple of challenging years” with changes in its finance director, this year’s audit went smoothly. He said there were no major changes, and only one new accounting standard was adopted.

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
