First astronomical first day of summer Tuesday
The June solstice occurs on June 21, marking the astronomical first day of summer. In the Northern Hemisphere, the June solstice occurs when the sun travels along its northernmost path in the sky.
It occurs when Earth arrives at the point in its orbit where the North Pole is at its maximum tilt (about 23.5 degrees) toward the sun, resulting in the longest day and shortest night of the calendar year. Longest “day” means the longest period of sunlight hours.
With the recent heat wave most North Texans would say summer started weeks ago.
The following indictments were filed with the 97th District Clerk following the November session of the Montague County Grand Jury.
There were a total of 13 indictments with one sealed awaiting the arrest of a suspect.
A grand jury indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
