Forestburg
The Forestburg Longhorns wrapped up their first district title since 2009 with their regular season finale at Prairie Valley on Feb. 11.
The Longhorns won 84-32 against the young Bulldogs’ team to make it official.
Forestburg came into the game with it wrapped up with only one loss in district play, but the Longhorns wanted to go out with a bang.
Playing the rebuilding Prairie Valley team, Forestburg proved to be too much, scoring 25 points in both the first and second quarter before adding 23 in the third quarter.
The fourth quarter saw the bench players get some valuable playing time to close out the regular season as the Longhorns won 84-32.
The team had five players finish in double-figures. Jesus Sanchez led the team with 19 points, Nick Salazar was second with 18, Kyler Willett scored 16, Jesse Wadsworth had 14 and Josiah Wadsworth scored 13 points.
Forestburg was able to officially celebrate with a banner after the game to mark the big accomplishment. After finishing second in the district standings last year and with previous district champion Slidell moving up to 2-, the Longhorns knew they had a chance to break the district title drought.
“I am really proud of the guys staying focused and dialed in on their goals this season,” Coach Curtis Enis said. “Jesus, Kyler, Angel (Cruz) and Jesse did a really good job leading the team this year. We knew our success as a team was going to hinge on their consistency and commitment, as well as the improvement of our younger guys. When the younger guys earned the leaders’ trust we began to come together as a solid team.”

Nocona
The Nocona Indians were able to have a great final home game on Feb. 11 with a dominant win against Electra to secure third place in the district.
The Indians beat the Tigers 55-21, nearly outscoring Electra’s whole offensive output in the first quarter.
The Indians got off to a great start, going up 20-7 after the first quarter. While Nocona’s offense did not reach that height again in the final three quarter, the Indians defense kept the Tigers from scoring in double-figures in any quarter during the game and only eight points in the second half.
The Indians really spread the scoring around during the blowout. The highest scorer was RJ Walker, Landon Fatheree and Karson Kleinhans who each scored nine points. Jose Gomez Jr. was not far behind with eight points scored.

Bellevue
The Bellevue Eagles were able to wrap up the regular season with a high-scoring home win against Gold-Burg on Feb. 11.
The Eagles won 88-57 against the Bears to wrap up fourth place in the district and a playoff spot for the second straight season.
Bellevue had fourth place secured heading into the game, but wanted to head into the playoffs on a high note after losing to Midway the previous week.
The first quarter was a high scoring affair for both teams as the Eagles led only 21-15. Then Bellevue scored 32 points in the second quarter and the Bears could not keep up as it led 53-27 at halftime.
The third quarter saw the Eagles not play well as they were outscored 19-11, but they rebounded by scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter to finish on a good note.
Ryan Jones led the team with 32 points while Brycen Bancroft was second with 31 points.

Gold-Burg
The Gold-Burg Bears ended their season on Feb. 11 at Bellevue as they missed the playoffs, finishing one spot from qualifying in fifth place for the second straight season.
The Bears could not keep up with a high scoring Eagles’ team that won 88-57.
Gold-Burg was out of the playoff race entering the game, two games back from the Eagles team, but the Bears were hoping they could spoil Bellevue’s last home game on their way out.
The first quarter saw Gold-Burg keep pace with the Eagles in a high scoring affair, trailing only 21-15. Unfortunately, the Bears defense struggled to contain Bellevue’s top two scorers, who combined to score 32 points in the second quarter.
Despite Gold-Burg’s offense not falling off much from the first quarter and the team spreading the ball around, the Bears trailed 53-27 at halftime.
Gold-Burg could only play better defense in the second half and in the third quarter came out and played much better. The Bears outplayed the Eagles in every way, outscoring them 19-11 and making up some of the lead.
Unfortunately, Gold-Burg was not able to hold off Bellevue for long. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles scored 24 points as their lead got bigger. The final score was 88-57.
Keelyn Case led the team with 16 points and Jayton Epperson was second with 10 points.
Coach Christian Healer hopes the young returners will take what they learned this year and apply it for the next few years.
“The team was mostly real young and I think they can start to gel together in the next few years,” Healer said. “The three starters left, Camden Dreyer, Keelyn Case and Barrett Allen will be a huge component to this team if they want to make playoffs next season.”

Missing scores
