BISD trustees prepare to interview superintendent candidates, review new legislative bills

Bowie Independent School District Trustees had a long night Monday reviewing dozens of new state laws that will impact not only school funding, but many other aspects of school operations.
The board also got its first look at 25 candidates who have submitted applications for the superintendent’s position. Blake Enlow left the post after just over six years on May 23.
Assistant Superintendent Lee Ann Farris is serving as interim superintendent. Region 9 Education Service Center’s staff has been coordinating the search and offered the resumes Monday night.
In a timeline developed by President Jacky Betts the board plans on starting initial interviews on June 20 and complete that first round by June 24. The goal is to name a lone finalist by the end of June reported Farris after the closed session. Interviews are already set for June 20 and 23.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
