HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Crockett returns home to Montague County

Former Bowie High School standout Dakota Crockett has accepted the head volleyball coaching position at Saint Jo.
Crockett is thrilled to be returning to Montague County after spending last season as the head coach at Boles in Quinlan.
“I’m extremely happy,” Crockett said. “Boles had a successful season, but I didn’t have my family and friends there to support me. It means a lot to me, because I’ve been looking for my coaching home.”
Last year, the Hornets won 15 games and qualified for the University Interscholastic League playoffs for the first time in nearly two decades.
Crockett coached three talented players in District 2A-18 libero of the year Callie Norwood, first-team selection Kassi Carmichael and second-team pick Katelyn Phillips.
Boles competed in the same district with Fruitvale, Cumby, Como-Pickton, Miller Groove and North Hopkins.
Crockett said she also applied for other positions, but Saint Jo was her preferred destination. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
