Published

on

Ten high school golfers qualified for the Conference 1A regional tournament set for next week at Legends Golf Course and Resort in Stephenville.
The entire Bellevue boys’ team has advanced by virtue on a second-place team finish during the District 1A-21 tournament at Nocona Hills Country Club on Monday.
The par-72 course plays at 6,529 yards for boys and men, and less for women and girls.
The Saint Jo girls’ squad also moved on because the Lady Panthers finished second as a team.
Forestburg’s Hope Phipps and Prairie Valley’s Robin Fenoglio also qualified as at-large selections.
On the boys’ side, Midway was the winner with a composite score of 481. Bellevue took second with a 488, and Prairie Valley was third (492).
Tioga was the top girls’ team, firing a 465 team score, 10 strokes better than second-place Saint Jo’s 475. Forestburg was third, carding a 483.
Mitchell Eldred, since he wasn’t part of Prairie Valley’s main team, finished short of qualifying for the regional meet despite shooting a 112 and finishing third.
Josiah DeLeon from Tioga was the boys’ medalist, shooting a 77. Kari Hughes, also from Tioga, had the best girls’ score with a 102. Read more, and see complete scores, in the weekend Bowie News.
