HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Lady Rabbits’ losing streak hits three games

The Bowie High School softball team tried to take advantage of its speed by bunting during Tuesday’s District 3A-9 game.
Should Petie Wolsey and Tristin Hopson get on base, they put pressure on opposing defenses to make plays.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan – despite Wolsey and Hopson going a combined 3-for-8 at the plate – as surging Henrietta defeated Bowie 10-5, sending the Lady Rabbits to their third straight loss.
“It hasn’t worked out for us,” Bowie head coach Brant Farris said. “We have the speed to bunt and steal. It changes the dynamic of the game. But, you still have to get on base.”
Both Wolsey and Hopson struck out once while attempting to get on with a bunt.
Bowie stands at 14-15, 7-6 in the district. City View topped Nocona 10-8 on the same night, forging a tie heading into the final game of the regular season Friday night – weather permitting.
If Bowie and City View both win or lose on Friday, there will be a play-in game to determine fourth place in the district for the final playoff spot. The Lady Rabbits play at Holliday while the Lady Mustangs tangle with Boyd. Read more, and see the complete box score, in the weekend Bowie News.
