LOCAL GOLF: Healer aces Twisted Oaks No. 3
Ty Healer spurred his team onto victory by making a hole-in-one on Hole No. 3 at Twisted Oaks during a recent event at the golf club.
Healer lobbed a pitching wedge shot 127 yards into the cup.
Healer’s team also featured Snake Allen, Ken Healer and Don Biehl, with a score of 15.
The team comprised of Allan Miller, Dean Yarbro, Wade Wallace and Chuck Wallace finished second at 17.
John Ward was closest to the pin on Hole No. 9.
Big Sunday Game
Cal Wells, Kevin Starry and Terry Gunter teamed up to win the Big Sunday Game at Twisted Oaks Golf Club on April 19.
The three golfers shot a combined 1-over par.
There was a tie for second place between the teams of Roy Stanley, Andy Duke and Todd McMurray and Ken Rhoades, Truman Duke and Greg Vicars. Both trios shot 8-over par.
The low individual scores were as follows: Cal Wells (69), Ron Everitt (74), Roy Stanley (75) and Andy Duke (76).
The clubhouse and pavilion have been constructed at Twisted Oaks Golf Club. PGA Professional Ron Moxom reported the staff will move to the facility this weekend. DCI Metal Buildings and local workers constructed the venue, which has offices, a snack bar and pro shop. (News photo by Eric Viccaro)

McLennan to coach Saint Jo boys
New Saint Jo Boy’s Basketball Coach Terry McLennan said the school’s family atmosphere is what prompted him to join the Panther family.
“This is an opportunity to be an important program but also part of a great community,” McLennan said. “I’ve been looking to get back to a small town environment like the one I grew up in and played ball and this should do that.”
McLennan played basketball in Hubbard outside of Waco. McLennan comes to town after being the assistant girl’s basketball coach in Grand Prairie.
McLennan contends he’s a defensive style of coach but says his team will focus on intensity.

Botard new BHS girls BB coach
After some coaching time in East Texas, Bret Botard will be the new girl’s basketball coach at Bowie.
Botard said it’s a chance to work with Bowie Athletic Director Tyler Price once again. Price was Botard’s assistant when he coached at Nocona.
“I wanted to get back into the area,” Botard said. “It’s a good community.”
Botard graduated high school in 1995 from Del Valle High School, outside Austin, and went to Texas Tech. He started his coaching career in Lubbock followed by returning to his alma mater where he was an assistant for his high school coach.
