LUBBOCK – Dan Truitt Fry, 80, formerly of Floydada, passed away on May 22, 2015.
Visitation was from 1-8 p.m. May 25 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Idalou with the family receiving friends 3-5 p.m.
Memorial service was at 11 a.m. May 26 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Idalou. Burial will be private.
He was born Oct. 24, 1934 in Shannon to the late Temple and Ruby (Brazeal) Fry. He worked as a truck driver and owned a local gin until retiring in 2004.
Dan married Faye Williams in April of 1954 in Petersburg. He was a 32nd degree Mason who loved fishing, golf and spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Faye; children, Deeann Marsh, Roxanne Blasor and husband Kevan, Danny Fry and Randy Fry; siblings, J. W. Fry and wife Mary and Mattie Thorpe and husband Bob; grandchildren, Heather Winbourn, Brooke Sanchez, Tyler Fry, Kylie Fry and Jeremy Marsh; great grandchildren, Addie Jo, Porter and Josie Winbourn, Evie Cox, Dani Rae Sanchez, and a greatly anticipated new great grandchild.

Blind taste tests, better seafood
Lent has just ended and if you observed it in any way, strictly or somewhere in the middle, you probably felt it. That slow shift in how you cook, what you reach for, and how often you stand in the kitchen wondering what else there is besides peanut butter and pimento cheese. But there is something about going through a season like that that resets your perspective.
You come out the other side appreciating things you did not think twice about before, and sometimes you discover a few new ones along the way.
As a kid, the frozen seafood we ate came in a rectangular box and answered to the name fish sticks.
They were breaded within an inch of their life, cooked until vaguely crisp, and served with enough ketchup to make you forget what you were eating.
They were not great. They were fine, which for a long time was about the best you could say for most frozen fish. And that stuck with me.
