Main Street puts fresh paint on lamp posts
The 90 Main Street Bowie lamp posts that dot the main downtown area of Bowie are getting a fresh coat of paint. Main Street partnered with the city parks department for the project, providing the supplies for the parks’ staff. Bowie has been a Texas Main Street City since 1997. The lamp posts were installed in early 2000 following the sidewalk renovation project. Beautification is a priority for Main Street, said Manager Shannon Skiles and they are proud to work closely with the city to revitalize downtown. A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
