HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Bowie takes care of business in win

The Bowie High School volleyball team didn’t allow City View to gain any confidence during Tuesday’s District 3A-9 match.
Holliday surrendered a game to the Lady Mustangs during a 3A-9 match earlier this season, and on Sept. 26, Jacksboro and City View produced a second set score of 35-33 in favor of the Tigerettes.
The Lady Rabbits weren’t about to have such shenanigans, and they swept City View by scores of 25-15, 25-21, 25-8.
City View pressed Bowie the most in the second set, but a late Lady Rabbit run precluded the Lady Mustangs from victory.
“I thought the girls played well and executed versus City View,” Bowie head coach Jeanie Stark said. “They had gone four sets with a couple of our strong district teams, so I knew they had improved and were hungry for a win.”
Stark said the Lady Mustangs stayed closer with Bowie in the second set due to a spree of unforced errors.
Bowie stands at 18-13, and 3-3 in 3A-9. By virtue of a win over Boyd earlier this season, the Lady Rabbits would qualify for the postseason as the fourth-best team in the district right now.

Ivy Dennis (2) continues to become a better this season, and in Tuesday’s match she put down a varsity career-best nine kills to help Bowie sweep City View. Click on the image itself for the complete photo. (News photo by Eric Viccaro)
