Brief agenda awaits Bowie City Council

Published

on

The Bowie Council has a brief agenda at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1.
The second reading of the ordinance amending the ambulance regulations in regard to fees will be considered. Councilors are eliminating the no-billing process for in-city customers.
All ambulance customers will have their insurance billed and any remaining amount billed to them, while those without insurance will be billed.
The ordinance stated the additional expense required for the ambulance service due to the closure of the hospital prompted this action.
In new business, the first reading of an ordinance amending the hours for the sale of alcohol beverages will be heard. It would extend hours for eligible later hours permit holders until 2 a.m. on any day.
T.J. Jones, owner of The Rack in downtown, asked to extend the Saturday night hours from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m.
The council will examine an addendum to the service agreement with Intermedix, which does the ambulance billing. The change relates to the collections agency service and pricing.
