Bowie City Council to consider pursuing designs, cost estimate for new office complex
The Bowie City Council is moving forward with plans to develop a preliminary design and cost estimate for a city building complex to be located on property located along U.S. Highway 287.
The 6 p.m. Feb. 2 agenda lists as a discussion and action item: Direct the city staff to develop in cooperation with architects, engineers and/or design-build contractors, as appropriate, cost estimates for a city complex located on property located at Farm-to-Market Road 1125 and U.S. 287.
Debate about a new city complex has been ongoing since summer 2014 when the city purchased 9.93 acres of land on the highway for $178,840. While no city official would confirm it would be the site of a new municipal complex, there were talking occurring about developing site that could compliment the high school located next to the land. A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
