Please dispose of recyclables properly
More than 2,000 pounds of recyclable materials are being collected at the Bowie Community Center recycle bins, but citizens are reminded that only certain materials are allowed in the bins.
City officials said the majority of those recycling are doing it properly separating their materials, but then others are dropping random stuff that is not allowed.
Some of that ineligible material has included construction materials from a demolished house to memory foam bedding.
The recycle bins do not accept the following: Plastic grocery bags, foam, hazardous materials, wet and food wastes. Read the full story in the weekend News.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
