HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: A Lady Indian uprising

Three times late in periods during Tuesday’s District 3A-9 girls’ basketball game between Bowie and Nocona, Makenzie Franklin had the ball.
Including in the closing moments of the fourth quarter as Lady Indian Franklin spotted Sherese Price open in the lane.
Price hoisted a shot that bounced softly on the rim a couple of times before going through the net – sending the Nocona home crowd into a frenzied state.
“Makenzie did a great job for us,” Nocona first-year head coach Heather Nobile said. “She sees the floor well, and she passed off to Sherese. We didn’t want to give them an opportunity to score.”
Bowie still had time for a game-tying shot, but the Lady Rabbits didn’t have much to work with. With 1.8 seconds left, Henslee Ogle shuttled an inbound pass to Addy Cook, whose turnaround shot dinged off the rim and fell to the hardwood.
“We have a lot of scoring options (off the inbound play),” Bowie head coach Colby Davis-Pastusek said. “Cook was one of our options.” Read more in the Feb. 6 edition of The Bowie News.
