Bowie teen jailed in connection business burglary

An 18-year-old Bowie man has been jailed in connection with the Aug. 7 burglary of Edwards Collision Center 112 E. Wise.
David Edwards reported the burglary on the morning of Aug. 8 stating about $2,000 in cash was taken, along with a ball cap. The suspect also rummaged around the office.

While assisting with an illegal dumping complaint for the sheriff’s office on Coggins Road, police observed one of the suspects was wearing a ball cap similar to the one reported missing. Police later questioned Jarod Wayne Caudill, 18, 309 Decatur, and Chief Green said Caudill confessed to the burglary.He was arrested on Aug. 11.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
