Alvord area pursuit ends with crash near Sunset

An attempted traffic stop in Alvord led to a chase into Montague County Thursday afternoon, which ended with a foot chase and the eventually arrest of the driver.
The incident began around when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on U.S.81/287 south of Alvord.
Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said the deputy saw the driver pull into one of the gas station and when he passed the driver looked at the deputy and then went the other direction.
That action seemed strange to the deputy said Akin, so he attempted to stop him and the driver fled northbound to the city limits of Alvord.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
