BISD finalizing its budget, salaries, tax rate
With school a little more than a week away, Bowie Independent School District Trustees Monday night adopted the amended Student Code of Conduct and review updates to the student handbook.
A budget workshop also took place as the funding templates from the state are finalized and the board considered salary schedules and tax rates.
For the student handbook, the primary changes were made at the secondary school level at junior and senior high schools. Superintendent Blake Enlow said there were adjustments made to hair length with a focus on hair being a problem if it is a safety issue or distraction. Facial hair also is allowed if it is well groomed and clean, which is determined at the discretion of the campus principal. Shorts are allowed at a level three inches above the knee.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
