Bowie mayor elected to TPPA board of directors

The Texas Public Power Association announced the election of new officers to lead the organization in the year ahead and presented public service and industry excellence awards at its 41st annual meeting last week in San Antonio.
Bowie mayor Gaylynn Burris was elected to the board, as she attended the meeting along with City Manager Bert Cunningham and Jay Evans, head of the city electric department.
The state trade association has a membership composed of municipally-owned electric utilities, electric cooperatives, river authorities and joint action agencies responsible for the generation and delivery of electricity to more than five million Texans.
TPPA also honored three Texas legislators for their contributions to energy public policy benefitting the state’s citizens, local economies and the environment including Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville), Senator Judith Zaffirini (D-Laredo) and Representative Drew Springer (R-Muenster).

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
