Bowie Council to meet twice on Monday

Published

on

The Bowie City Council will gather for a budget workshop and regular session on Aug. 12.
A budget workshop is set for 4 p.m. where the council is expected to have further discussions on possible wastewater rates and other expenses proposed in the budget.
The regular council meeting will be at 6 p.m.
A record vote on a proposed tax rate and scheduling of a public hearing on the rate is listed under new business. The council is considering a rate of .5445 cents per $100 in property value, which is up slightly from the present rate of .5250 cents.
A joint election agreement with Montague County for the Nov. 5 vote will be reviewed along with a resolution related to House Bill 914 on collecting bingo prize fees.
In old business, the Enterprise fleet management agreement will return for consideration. Previously, the council indicated it did not want to include the program to replace city vehicles in the budget, but then that was changed and the majority would like to possibly add it back.
The council will review Selma Park rules and regulations to consider possible updates. The return of the monthly department reports to the council agenda also is on tap for discussion.
