on

The Texas Senate District 30 runoff election will be set up at four locations across Montague County on Dec. 19.
Early voting wrapped up on Tuesday. When Monday closed out there were 923 ballots cast. The runoff pits Drew Springer (R-Muenster), state representative for District 68, against Denton business owner Shelley Luther, who came into the public eye when she opposed closing her hairstyling business at the direction of Governor Greg Abbott.
The winner will replace Pat Fallon, who was recently elected to the U.S. House in Texas’ 4th Congressional District. District 30 encompasses Archer, Clay, Cooke, Erath, Grayson, Jack, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Wichita, Wise and Young Counties and parts of Collin and Denton Counties.
Election day voting will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Montague County Annex Community Room, H.J. Justin Community Room, 100 Clay in Nocona Saint Jo Civic Center and Bowie Bible Baptist Church, 1400 State Highway 59N.
Elections Administrator Ginger Wall reminds voters if they have not returned their mail-in ballot, her office cannot accept one in person for this election. The voter can bring the ballot to the polls, relinquish it and then vote in person.
