Four Republicans, one Democrat run for District 68
Filing for the special election to fill the District 68 seat in the Texas House of Representatives came to an end on Monday with four Republicans and one Democrat filing with the Texas Secretary of State.
The Jan. 23 special election was required after Texas Rep. Drew Springer won the special election for the District 30 Texas Senate seat. Springer had won another term in the November election.
Candidates will include Republicans John Berry, financial planner from Jacksboro; Jason Brinkley, attorney and Cooke County Judge from Gainesville; Craig Carter, Metroplex businessman who renovated the Old Nocona Boot Factory in Nocona and David Spiller, attorney from Jacksboro and Democrat, Charles D. Gregory, retired postal service worker from Childress.

Members of the Bowie City Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. on May 13 in council chambers.
The meeting opens with a proclamation for Emergency Medical Services Week.
City Manager Bert Cunningham will report on recent rainfall problems, Smythe Street sidewalk project and the substation work.
There is only one item of new business an ordinance related to speed limits on specific streets. Public comments and approval of minutes wrap up the agenda.
The board of directors of the Amon Carter Lake Water Supply Corporation will meet at 6 p.m. at Carter Lake Baptist Church 4759 FM 1125.
Agenda items include an engineer’s presentation and resolution workshop with Daniel Deweber and Prairie Branch Properties.
