C&B Car Show welcomes 116 entries

The Piston Heads Auto Club had a beautiful Saturday with 116 registered for the Chicken and Bread Days Car Show.
The Best of Show went to Ed DeMichele of Weatherford with a 1979 Red Chevy Chevelle.
James Scruggs, Bowie businessman and avid car collector, received the 2023 Tom Ballew Piston Head Auto Club Memorial Award presented by Bowie Community Development as he showed his 1964 Chevy Impala.
Best Paint winner was Jim and Jay Ann Massey of Boyd with a 1957 White Chevy Belair.
Best Interior winner was John and Sherry Kent of Bowie with 1968 Black/Red 1968 Chevy Camaro.
Best Engine went to Rory Morrison of Wichita Falls with a 1968 White Dodge Dart.
Bill Carlisle won the Distance Traveled Award coming from Chickasha, OK at 113 miles. And the Club Participation Award went to the Retro Rockhoppers of Weatherford, with five members present.
Special awards included the Sweet Boys Sweet Ride went to Brad Sherman of Bowie with a Red 1968 Pontiac Firebird. And the S & T Café and Grill award went to Adam and MaKynleigh Williamson of Bowie, with a Blue/White 1971 GMC C-15 Pickup.

Summer Olympics this week’s summer reading theme

Bowie Public Library’s Summer Reading program continues on July 16 with the Olympics.
It will be all about the upcoming Summer Olympics with outdoor games at the soccer field. Summer reading wraps up with the popular Creature Teacher on July 23 who brings lots of animals to the kids to see up close.
Any questions about summer reading can be directed to the library staff by calling 872-2681 or follow their Facebook page.
Summer reading is open to children ages 0-12. Keep a summer reading log and earn a book.

Space adventures coming to Nocona Library

Nocona Library’s Summer Reading program continues at 10 a.m. on July 17 at the Justin Building at 100 Clay Street.
The program will be space adventures and include a demonstration of a drone. Make plans to attend.
