Lady Rabbits lose series to Iowa Park

Published

on

The Bowie Lady Rabbits come together to talk strategy on defense.

The Bowie Lady Rabbits played one of the top-ranked teams in the state in their district series against Iowa Park last week.
The Lady Hawks won both games, with scores being 10-0 and 8-0.
The Lady Rabbits were coming off two losses against Jacksboro the previous week and were 2-2 in district.
Iowa Park scored three runs in the second inning thanks a to walk with the bases loaded and a pickoff attempt that went wrong that scored two. The Lady Hawks scored two more runs in the third inning on an RBI single and a fielding error at third base to go up 5-0.
In the fifth inning, Iowa Park started a two-out rally, scoring five runs on three singles, two fielding errors, a walk and a hit batter.
The Lady Hawks won 10-0, ending the game early due to run-rule.
Bowie avoided getting no-hit with KP Rutherford hitting a single.
The team drew two walks to get a few more baserunners, but could not put enough together to score runs.
On defense, the team committed four fielding errors and allowed eight hits and three walks.
The Lady Rabbits hoped they could compete better after a few days of practice and being at home. Despite the final score, they did.
Serenity Klump hit a leadoff double in the first inning that gave Bowie an early chance to score that it never had in game one, but could not get her home.
The second inning proved to be the worst for the Lady Rabbits. Two RBI singles and three-run inside the park home run allowed the Lady Hawks to score five runs to go up 5-0.
Then Bowie was able to play shut out defense for the next four innings of the game which gave the team a chance to respond offensively.
Besides the fourth inning, the Lady Rabbits were able to get at least one base runner on every inning to threaten to score.
Bowie’s best chance came in the sixth inning, loading the bases up with two outs. Unfortunately, the next batter popped it out to the shortstop for out three.
That seemed to affect the seventh inning on defense. A fielding error at third base got the first base runner on with one out. Two RBI singles and an RBI triple followed as Iowa Park scored three runs in the final inning.
The Lady Rabbits could not answer in their final at-bats and the Lady Hawks won 8-0.
