Montague County’s overall values up 5.8%

As in recent years strong property sales continue to drive values up as the 2025 certified values reflect a 5.81% increase above those of 2024.
While these values may be considered final allowing entities to begin work on their budgets, they really aren’t this year as a pending Nov. 4 homestead exemption election may change the present number from $100,000 to $140,00. No such election has failed in the past 10 years, so it is expected to fly through the voters to a big yes.
The Montague County Tax Appraisal District delivered their certified values to the 16 entities that collect taxes in the area.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
