Rose State College-signee Cooper Cantwell, teammate Carter Shackelford and Nocona’s Jaxon Phipps were honorable mention all-state choices by the Texas Sportswriters Association.
Cantwell was part of a formidable pitching rotation that helped the Jackrabbits to a 26-3-2 record, District 3A-9 championship and bi-district title over Whitesboro.
Cantwell recorded a 7-1 record with an earned-run average of less than 1.00. Cantwell struck out 65 and allowed only 31 base runners all season.
Shackelford was resourceful getting on base, with a .406 batting average.
He drew 12 walks and scored 32 runs. He will be a returning senior at Bowie for the 2015-16 campaign.
Phipps, who was named district most valuable player on offense, put together a .562 batting average and an .844 slugging mark.
Phipps scattered 18 hits, scored 11 runs and stole 11 bases, and remarkably he didn’t strike out all season. He will attend Murray State College in Tishomingo, Okla., this fall.
Holliday’s Chase Duncan was tabbed as a second-team all-state outfielder, with a .419 batting average and 36 runs scored.
West pitcher Bailey Horn was deemed player of the year, with a 13-0 record and 1.34 ERA for the state 3A champions.
