Forestburg is the site of the “Biggest Little Rodeo in Texas” starting at 8 p.m. on Aug. 7 and 8.
“It’s an amazing event,” said Dee Weger, treasurer for the Forestburg Riding Club, the group that serves as the host. “It’s great for both spectators and riders alike.”
Big L Rodeo Company of Rubottom, Okla., will be the stock contractor yet again.
“Forestburg rodeo is one of the biggest traditions around in the country,” said Big L’s Dale Lyons.
Lyons said the Forestburg rodeo usually has one of the biggest turnouts.
And, this year, for the first time ever, Lyons reported this will be an open rodeo not sanctioned by any particular governing body.
The books were open for contestants on Monday evening, Lyons said.
The Forestburg rodeo will name its rodeo queen and princess during the card on Aug. 8.
The queen candidates are Josey Cleveland, Payton Dill and Kat Hand and running for princess are Kalli Reed, Gwynn Vanderpool and Madison Vann. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
The Forestburg Riding Club, shown here at the Chisholm Trail Rodeo in June, will be providing entertainment both nights at the “Biggest Little Rodeo in Texas” on Aug. 7 and 8 at the Forestburg rodeo grounds. The Forestburg Riding Club serves as the event host. (News file photo by Eric Viccaro)
