Large monkey attacks local woman

Published

on

A Bowie area woman was treated for minor injuries she received after being attacked by a large monkey on her back porch recently.

Montague County Sheriff Paul Cunningham said the incident occurred on Nov. 9, after the sheriff’s office was called to Bowie Memorial Hospital to take a report on a “monkey bite.”

On arrival, the officers talked to Margy Depreist, who resides at 3345 Farm-to-Market Road 1125. Depreist said she saw a large Snow Macaque monkey on her back porch. She tried to scare it off, and heard a neighbor calling for it. When she turned her back and called out to him, the monkey allegedly attacked her. Read the full story in the mid-week News.
