Funeral service readied for 2 p.m. Thursday
The Bowie Police Department lost one of its long-time officers Monday as Lt. Rick Beckham died from complications following a recent surgery for broken bones.
Beckham, 46, had fallen off of a ladder at his home the week before Christmas and broke his hip and elbow. On Dec. 23, he had been transported to a local facility to recover and for therapy.
A funeral service for Beckham will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at The White Family Funeral Home.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
