HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Bellevue’s Debose nails game-winning shot

Dalton Debose scored just six points in a District 1A-21 game versus Clay County rival Midway.
But, he scored the most important basket – the game-winner as time winded down – to give Bellevue a 43-41 victory.
Jakob Watkins scored a team-best 14 points for the Eagles, who improved to 10-11 overall and 4-0 in 1A-21. Gabriel Garza added 11 points, including four free-throw makes.
At Prairie Valley
Gold-Burg 55, Prairie Valley 41
Kasen Allen and Matthew Gilbert both tallied 16 points as Gold-Burg earned its first District 1A-21 victory of the season.
Tommy Howard added 12 points for the Bears, who steadily built their lead throughout the game.
GIRLS
Gold-Burg 35, Prairie Valley 25
Madi Eckeberger and Genevieve Hanna combined for 21 of Gold-Burg’s points in a District 1A-21 victory on Tuesday at Prairie Valley.
Gold-Burg pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Prairie Valley 10-1 during the skein. The Lady Bears made 5-of-8 free throws to help their cause.
Kendra Woods was Prairie Valley’s leading scorer with 12 points. Read more in The Bowie News.

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
