Following Bowie City Council’s approval Tuesday night, the Bowie 4B Sales Tax Corporation will advertise for bids on building the new industrial technology center at the North Central Texas College-Bowie campus.

Ward Wallace, member of the 4B Board, told the council construction could begin by May 1 and the building will be ready in early January for the spring semester.

Dick Bundy, architect with Bundy, Young, Sims and Potter Architects of Wichita Falls, reviewed the plans for the 8,750-square foot building.

This project has been in the works for the past year as the board worked with NCTC officials to refine a plan that would provide space needed for the curriculum.

One year ago NCTC-Gainesville opened its own 10,000-square foot facility for industrial technology programs. Bowie’s building will be slightly smaller and contain space for a machine lab, welding lab and industrial mechanics. The estimated cost is $2.9 million.
