Party primary filings welcomes incumbents, two newcomers

The 2018 party primary season began in earnest this week as numerous incumbents and a few newcomers joined the March 6 battle.
Nov. 11 was the first day for party filing and it will continue through Dec. 11. There are multiple national and state races, but in Montague County the following positions will be on the ballot: County judge, district clerk, county clerk, county treasurer, county precinct commissioners in precincts two and four and justice of the peace in precincts one and two.
Laurie Ritchie of the Montague County elections administrator’s office reported these candidates have filed for election:
Rick Lewis, county judge, incumbent; Mike Mayfield, commissioner two, incumbent; Bob Langford, commissioner four, incumbent; David Allen, JP One, incumbent; Lavonda Langford, county treasurer; Glenda Henson, county clerk, incumbent; and Ronald Westbrook, JP Two.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
