NCTC Chorale peforms May 7 in Denton
The North Central Texas Chorale presents the enchanting “Hear My Prayer” and selections of “Elijah” by Felix Mendelssohn on May 7. The concert will be at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at 401 S. Denton Street, Gainesville.
Tickets are available from the chorale members and also will be available at the door. Adult tickets will be $7, and tickets for students and seniors will be $5.
The music of Mendelssohn is mesmerizing. He is an early Romantic Period composer.
“Hear My Prayer” has beautiful melodies. They also will sing several popular sections of his famous “Elijah.”
This music is known for its stirring solos and electrifying choruses and is one of the most popular Oratorios.The concert will be sung the concert in English.
The chorale will be accompanied by Shirley Hatfield on organ. Soloists for the concert will be Courtney Kelley, soprano; Rebecca Nunez-Stubbs, alto; and Dan Seeger, bass.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week
Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
