Suspect faces new charges related to shots fired call
Orville Throneberry, who kept law officers at bay in Sunset for nearly three hours last Friday threatening them and himself with a gun, faces a complaint of aggravated assault on a public servant, a first degree felony stemming from the Aug. 23 incident.
Montague County Chief Deputy Jack Lawson said the 56-year-old Throneberry, was served with that charge Friday after he was arrested. The Texas Rangers filed a new count of possession of a firearm by a felon on Monday, and Throneberry may see a drug charge stemming from a search of his house in Sunset after Friday’s shooting.
The sheriff’s office had been dealing with Throneberry for more than a week. Lawson said on Aug. 15 officers executed a search warrant at the Sunset home as part of an investigation into allegations Throneberry assaulted and unlawfully restrained a woman.

The staff of Brazos Electric Cooperative will host a public meeting to share information and receive feedback on a proposed 138kV transmission line project in Montague County.
This meeting will be from 4-6 p.m. on July 27 in the H.J. Justin Building, 100 Clay, Nocona.

This come-and-go public meeting will provide information and seek input on the rebuild and upgrade of a 14-mile transmission line. The propoosed 138kV double-circuit transmission line will connect the existing Alcorn Substation on Salmon Road with the existing Capps Corner Substation on Farm-to-Market Road 1956 and FM 677. The proposed right-of-way width for the new transmission line is 70 feet.
Attendees will be able to make comments, ask questions and share concerns with Brazos representatives and technical specialists from Oaklight Environmental Consulting.
