Gold-Burg hosted its volleyball tournament on Saturday that wrapped up the final tournament for both the host and the teams that came.
District opponent Prairie Valley came out on top to win the tournament for the second straight year as the Lady Bulldogs won all three of their games without dropping a set while the Lady Bears finished second overall.
Prairie Valley first played Graford. After a slow start in the first set, the Lady Bulldogs pulled away to win 25-20. The second set was not much of an issue as the Lady Rabbits went down 25-15.
Gold-Burg started out the tournament with a tough one against Perrin-Whitt. Despite beating them earlier in the week, the Lady Pirates took the first set 25-19. The second set was closer, but the Lady Bears were able to pull away to win 25-21 to force a third and final set. From there Gold-Burg took control early and won 15-10.
The two teams met in each one’s second game of the tournament. Prairie Valley won the first set in a one-sided affair 25-11, but the second set was much closer. Still the Lady Bulldogs came out on top 26-24 to win the match.
With the teams scheduled to meet twice more during district play, Saturday was just a preview of more to come.
Prairie Valley wrapped up the tournament against Perrin-Whitt. The Lady Bulldogs won the first set by a double-digit margin 25-14 and was able to hold on for a closer second set win 25-22 to win the match.

The new press box was by the Southern Bleacher Company out of Graham.
