Bowie Rural VFD readies annual fish fry, concert
Members of the Bowie Rural Volunteer Fire Department invite you to attend its annual fish fry and live concert on Sept. 14 at the Bowie Community Center 413 Pelham Street.
The always popular fish fry will be served from 5-8 p.m. or sellout. Cost is your donation. Enjoy live music and and auction.
There will be a drawing for two guns with tickets at $5 each for a chance to win a Savage Axis 6.5 Creedmoore and a Glock 43×9.

Later that evening enjoy a separate concert featuring William Clark Green and the Read Southall band. Doors open at 8 p.m. with Read Southall taking the stage at 9 p.m. and William Clark Green performing at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are only $25 in advance at: outhousetickets.com.
William Clark Green is an American country music singer from Flint, Texas. He has released five studio albums and one live album. His most recent release is “Hebert Island.” In 2012, Green released his third album, Rose Queen on April 30, 2013 and it became his breakthrough album. The first single from the album was “It’s About Time” which became his first Top Ten song on Texas Radio.
Oklahoma singer Read Southall brings a unique sound to country music influenced by an array of singers from Hank Williams to Johnny Paycheck. Read wrote, recorded, and independently released his first album, Six String Sorrow, in 2015 and recently released Borrowed Time with his band. With overdriven guitars and heavy drums, the Read Southall Band aims to deliver a rock and roll experience at every show

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week
Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
